Apple II Kermit
Apple II Kermit is a rather do-it-yourself affair. The source and
documentation files are all available in the
kermit/a directory
of the Kermit archive as app*.*. Transfer them in text mode.

either follow the directions for downloading and bootstrapping, or else obtain
a diskette from an Apple II user group.
Here are some files you might want to look at in advance:
Apple II Kermit is written in a language called CROSS, a portable assembler.
A CROSS assembler (written in C) that generates 6502 machine code is included.
